Miles and Miles of Treasure!

For the avid collector of almost anything imaginable, Texas is the place to find it. Along with all of the fall festivals beginning to get underway, there are plenty of directions in which you can go to find those coveted and cherished items of desire! Throughout the Texas towns in our viewing area, one can travel in several directions browsing the Fall Antique shows and festivals for anything from yard sale fare to precious antiques and everything in between. This month I thought I would take you on a little trip to a few places where you can load up with some of these amazing treasures.

We will begin our antique journey in

Fayetteville Texas …

Antiques on the Square — Show opens Friday Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day, and ends with the Antique Auction by Teel Services on Monday Sept. 25 starting @ 6 p.m. The “Packing Up Sale” starts at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26 and lasts until it is all packed up! Located on Fayetteville’s Historic Town Square at 112 N Washington S. and of course offering free parking. You will enjoy being a guest for these Family Friendly Events. Fayetteville is a quaint little town that takes you back in time, located halfway between Austin and Houston, and is about an hour and a half drive from each of the cities.

Fayetteville is labeled the “heart of antique shopping” area. And for those that may not be into Antiques, they have some of the “best bass fishing anywhere” in the 2400-acre Lake Fayette located nearby. This is a great place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. When you visit one time, you will want to go back again and again. A little further North you can experience…

Antique Alley Texas, A unique festival spanning Johnson and Ellis Counties with more than 30 miles of sales stretching from Cleburne Texas To Maypearl and including Grandview, Sand Flat, Venus, and Alvarado. If you love all things eclectic, interesting or one-of-a-kind or you just love junking,hunting and exploring the back roads of Texas with your favorite buddies and adventure hunters, then this is the route for you! This could be your first trip exploring the ALLEY but it surely won’t be your last. All of the six participating communities host vendors and festival food proprietors and include an assortment of yard sales and church and school fundraisers. Every town organizes their own show which sometimes includes car shows, antique tractor & machinery displays, pet parades, carnivals, bounce houses and live entertainment provided by local talent. Huntsville Antique Show…

If you have never visited the Huntsville Antique Show, you don’t know what you are missing. Held indoors at the air-conditioned Walker County Fairgrounds, the antique show brings a vintage wonderland to this little corner of East Texas. This show is set for Sept. 16th and 17th, starting at 10 a.m. each day. Huntsville is a university town so you can find things that will appeal to the retro-Modernists as well as the admirers of the Chippy-peely-rusty school. With over 60 dealers you will be sure to find just about anything you are looking for and at a price to meet your pocketbook. And to finish our antique road trip…

Round Top, where it all began 50 years ago. The Fall 2017 Antique Show dates are Saturday, September 16th – Saturday October 8th

Twice a year more than 100,000 people arrive in this tiny little town with a population of “90” in rural Texas, to shop more than 2000 vendors displaying antiques, collectibles, crafts, decor, fashion, and much more housed in barns, dance halls, under tents and in fields. This world famous antique show attracts thousands of dealers from virtually every region of the United States (and the world) where they are joined by tens of thousands of buyers in the middle of Texas. This is your opportunity to buy from dealers all over the country by coming to one central location. The hub of this event includes the rural communities of Warrenton, Round Top, Shelby, Carmine, Fayetteville, Oldenburg, Burton and Rutersville with some of the nearby “Big” cities being La Grange, Giddings, Columbus, Brenham, and Smithville. It spans over a fifteen-day period engulfing an eleven-mile stretch of Hwy 237 through Round Top with smaller shows in neighboring towns.

Every show is different, most open by 9:00 a.m. (however some open even earlier) and they close around 5:00 p.m. (or stay open until the last shopper leaves)
